Breast cancer survivors are some of the strongest women you will ever meet. The grace they display as they fight their disease is inspiring. We at Fred Astaire Dance Studios are honored that so many of them turn to ballroom dancing following their battle with breast cancer as an activity to help them get back into shape, feel feminine again and express their joy for life in the timeless art of ballroom dancing.
Throughout October, Fred Astaire Dance Studios everywhere will embrace their celebrations of life and help raise awareness about women still in the fight. Fundraising showcases and galas are scheduled at studios across the United States that you can attend or support to honor the survivors in your life and your community while raising awareness and money for breast cancer survivors.
Join us at one of these awesome events and celebrate the breast cancer patients and survivors in your life!
Dancing with the Survivors
Several studios are holding events by this name to celebrate the survivors in their communities. Breast cancer survivors were paired with professional dancers nearly four months ago by The Pink Fund, an organization that helps breast cancer patients regain their financial footing after their diagnosis and during their treatment. These survivors will show what they’re made of in a thrilling night of performances with their professional dance partners, culminating in a celebration of the hard work of all participants to raise money for breast cancer research and patient support. Dancers Fighting Cancer
This event is taking place in the Rochester, New York, studio on October 2. It will consist of student and professional showcases, along with a silent auction. This event will benefit Embrace Your Sisters, an organization that provides emergency funds to help breast cancer patients and their families pay their utility bills, cover their medical expenses or even buy groceries. Embrace Your Sisters is one of many organizations that is helping breast cancer patients get through the financial impacts of this diagnosis and come out stronger on the other side. Tickets are only $25, and children 12 and under are free. For more information, contact the studio at 585-292-1240.
Only in America Fall Showcase
This event, taking place at the Carolina Theatre in Greensboro, North Carolina, is a professional and student-led showcase scheduled for Sunday, October 9th at 3 PM. Tickets are $20, with proceeds going to support the Alight Foundation, a Greensboro-area organization that supports breast cancer patients mentally, emotionally and financially as they navigate through their treatment. Tickets can be purchased online at carolinatheatre.com or by phone at 336-333-2605.
We at Fred Astaire Dance Studios believe that one day soon, breast cancer will be a part of the past. Until that day, we will be a part of the solution, a part of the healing and a part of the celebration of life and strength that takes place every year in October. To all survivors, their families, friends and supporters, we hope you’ll join us for a month of exciting and joyful events at your local Fred Astaire Dance Studio locations.
