A lot of people will credit their parents for nurturing their love for dancing. For some children, it’s a natural part of growing up. If your house was always full of music and movement during your childhood, chances are your own home is now chez cha-cha!
As we gather to celebrate the moms out there on Mother’s Day, Fred Astaire Dance Studios would like to shine the spotlight on all the moms out there… and all the times they find to sneak in a little celebration of movement throughout the day.
YOUR MOM DANCED; WHILE SHE WAS PREGNANT
The first time your mom probably danced with you was likely during her pregnancy! Can you believe there is even a YouTube challenge called the Baby Mama Dance? The popular challenge is said to help induce labor. We don’t know about the validity to that claim, but we do know that judging by the number of videos on YouTube, the challenge brings a lot of fun and happiness to a lot of expectant mothers.
YOUR MOM DANCED; WHILE YOU WERE A NEWBORN
Many new moms are turning to “babywearing” dance classes as a way to bond with their newborns and to shed post-pregnancy weight. From hip-hop to salsa, there are probably mom-and-baby dance classes near you. If you want to try it, just make sure and use a secure carrier that properly supports your baby’s head.
YOUR MOM DANCED; WHILE SHE WAS COOKING YOUR DINNER
Cooking dinner can become a necessary but pretty boring task! What mom hasn’t cranked up the radio to make the task a little less boring? There’s no shame in mixing a little salsa into your Taco Tuesday dinner!
YOUR MOM DANCED; JUST TO EMBARRASS YOU
When you’re a mom, you’ve got to take your fun where you can find it! Sometimes that fun comes in the opportunity to embarrass your teenage son in front of an audience! Nothing says public humiliation in teen language than your mom dancing on the jumbotron!
YOUR MOM DANCED; AT YOUR WEDDING
Not to be outdone by the tear-jerking Father-Daughter dance at weddings, we’re starting to see some pretty show-stopping Mother-Son wedding dances as well. Whether it’s a full-on choreographed number or a simple dance to a special tune, chances are your mom was probably the first person you ever danced with.
Fred Astaire Dance Studios wants to wish all the moms out there a very Happy Mother’s Day!
