February is the month of love, so we’ll share the love in this edition of The Swing of Things. Here at Fred Astaire Dance Studios, we know that love comes in many forms. It can be steady and strong and last through the ages or it can be here today and gone tomorrow, sort of like the candy aisle at your local grocery store: one minute the Christmas stuff Is there and the next you know, it’s Valentine’s Day. There are all kinds of love just like there are all kinds of dancing. And Fred Astaire Dance Studios celebrates them all.
LOVE SOMETHING AS MUCH AS THIS WOMAN LOVES CHRISTMAS
We sure hope you enjoyed your holidays as much as this woman did! This is Marie Dallam of Oklahoma City. She is part of the OK City Chorus and she decided to “jazz up” her usual sedate performance of “Jingle Bells” with some pretty over-the-top moves! She says she’s usually rather serious, but that being a member of the OK City Chorus allows her to express her silly side. Keep on expressing, Marie!
LOVE SOMETHING AS MUCH AS THIS KITTEN CATCHING SNOWFLAKES
Cats aren’t known for loving the cold and the wet. You can usually find them curled up as close to a fireplace as they can get or snuggled deep into a blanket. But it turns out this kitten is just like any little kid and loves the joy of a magical snowfall.
LOVE SOMETHING AS MUCH AS PEOPLE ARE LOVING THIS GYMNASTICS ROUTINE
Fans are going nuts over 21-year-old Katelyn Ohashi’s floor routine. The UCLA gymnast scored a perfect 10 with her mind-blowing athletic performance. Video of her routine has since gone viral, with many fans noting that they love her moves, but it’s her happiness that makes the performance so infectious!
LOVE SOMETHING AS MUCH AS THIS WOMAN LOVES SHARKS
So, it probably goes without saying that this is NOT a good idea for most people. That being said, we can’t help but be fascinated by this video of a marine biologist swimming alongside… even touching at times, an enormous great white shark. The shark is about 20 feet long and is estimated to weight about 6,000 pounds! Ocean Ramsey says her love of the animals (and spreading the word about conservation efforts) led her to take a chance to perform a sort of water waltz with the massive predator.
LOVE SOMETHING AS MUCH AS WE LOVE FRED ASTAIRE
Maybe it’s the church? Could it be the dress? Whatever it is, we love this romantic scene from Fred Astaire’s classic “Funny Face.” Audrey Hepburn is absolutely enchanting, while Fred Astaire is his usual debonair self as they dance and sing their love in one of the most romantic settings ever seen on the silver screen.
Maybe it’s the waltz? Maybe it’s the tango? Whatever your ballroom dreams are, Fred Astaire Dance Studios would “love” to teach you with our proven method. So call your local studio today!
